Jo Hacker's excellent run of form continued yesterday with victory in the Royal Jersey's 36 hole Open Scratch event, the JW Messervy Salver.

The La Moye member opened with a level par 70 in the morning which included three birdies, a bogey and a double bogey to share the halfway lead with the Royal Jersey's Matthew Parkman who's 70 included a triple bogey 7 at the seventeenth hole. Third place was shared with three others, Ryan Riley (RJGC), Andy Clarke and Jeremy Phillips (both LM) all on 73.

In the afternoon, Jo raised his game and opened up with a birdie 4 at the first. He dropped a shot at the par 4 fifth, but immediately birded the next to turn in one under par. He made a bogey 5 at the tenth but hit back with birdie 3's at the next two holes. A dropped shot after missing the green at the par 3 sixteenth was regained with a birdie 3 at the last for a two under par 68.

His two round total of 138 was good enough to win by 7 shots from Matthew Parkman who carded a 5 over par 75 in the afternoon. In third place was Stanley Keites who broke from the pack after a morning round of 77, with a one under 69 in the afternoon, pipping Jeremy Phillips (two 73's) on a count back.

This victory topped a great week for young Jo as he had qualified for the Brabazon Trophy (English Men's Amateur Open Championship) earlier in the week at Hindhead Golf Club, where he finished in 11th place to progress to the tournament proper at Alwoodley Golf Club at the end of the month.

Special mention to Tony Burt (Les Mielles GC) who had a hole-in-one at the par 3 second hole during his first round.
