On Club Championships Day, Matthew Parkman successfully defended the title he first won 12 months ago and Flora Keites picked up the Corbin Trophy for the third time.

Playing 36 holes, Matthew opened up with a 3 under par 67 which at one stage was looking to be so much better. He opened with an eagle three at the first and following 5 pars birdied the difficult seventh and then the short par 3 eighth. A bogey at the ninth was followed by three more birdies in succession - 6 under after 12 holes. Another opportunity for a birdie slipped by at the 14th, before a bogey at the par 3 fifteenth and a double bogey at the seventeenth put paid to any thoughts if a new course record.

After the first round, Matthew led by 6 strokes, as Sam Jaakola had the next best score , a three over par 73. In contrast to his opening hole in the morning Matthew found trouble in Fort Henry and he made an 8. This was followed up with a bogey 6 at the third. Another bogey followed at the short fourth and he turned in 41 strokes, 5 over par. He started the back nine with three straight pars before a chip-in birdie 3 at the thirteenth. He dropped a shot at the seventeenth before a birdie at the last meant he signed for a four over 74. Not bad considering he was 5 over after 4 holes! His two round total of 141 was good enough to win by 6 shots.

Sam fell away in the afternoon but Mat Hague, having shot 76 in the morning followed this up with an excellent one over par 71 in the afternoon to take the runner's-up spot and the handicap trophy.

In the Ladies Championship, the top ten qualifiers from the first round played last Tuesday teed off in the afternoon in reverse order. The final two players, Flora Keites and Hannah Scriven, had carded rounds of 81 and 83 respectively in the first round, so there were only two shots between them. Flora stretched her lead to four strokes after Hannah bogeyed the first two holes. Hannah got one back after Flora three putted the third. Things were pretty even for the next 5 holes until Hannah made a double bogey at the par 5 ninth.

Flora, having turned in 3 over par, then played solid golf, making a birdie at the par 5 twelfth. she dropped two shots in a row from the thirteenth, but a steady finish of one under for the final four holes, courtesy of a birdie up the last, meant she signed for a three over par 74 for a two round total of 155. Runner-up was Suzy Cornic with rounds of 87 & 81 and third place went to Claire Reid who carded a personal best in the second round.

The prize presentation for both trophies took place in the clubhouse afterwards and Past Lady Captain, Felicity Corbin-Wheeler presented the Corbin Trophy to Flora.
