The Men's and Ladies Island Games teams gave been announced and seven of the eight selected are Royal Jersey members. This is an amazing achievement for the Club and illustrates the strength and depth of our elite players.

The Ladies team will feature an-all Royal Jersey line-up of Flora Keites, Helen Lagadu, Anabelle Lucas-Villar and Hannah Scriven. All fur layers were part of the Jersey team that defeated Guernsey in the inter-insular last year. Flora has won individual Silver in two previous games and played alongside Hannah and Helen in the last games in Gotland in 2017. Anabelle will be making her debut in the games, but I am sure she will not be fazed by the occasion following the season she had last year.

The Men’s team consists of Steven Anderson, Jo Hacker (La Moye), Josh Ozard and Matthew Parkman. This will be Matthew’s fifth island games and brings a wealth of experience in the tournament. Jo Hacker is currently studying in Florida, but will be back for the summer – he currently has a Handicap Index of +4.2 and won the Hampshire County Championship in 2021. Steven has won the Island Championship last year and has been the Jersey Golf Award of Merit winner for the last two years showing amazing consistency. Josh also has an excellent year in 2022 winning the Goodchild Trophy (scratch trophy of the Pallot Bowl) and recoding a top three finish in the JG Award of Merit.

The games will be held over the L’Ancresse links, a course all the players have plenty of experience playing, and confidence will be high. However, as always, Guernsey will be very strong over their ‘own track’. The Games will take place 8th – 14th July 2023.
