In cold, easterly winds, the ladies played a 36-hole match at Royal Jersey last Sunday.

The morning’s format saw the A Team play Foursomes and the B Team played Singles.

In match 1, Helen Lagadu & Gloria Pallot-Brown and had a good start but could not finish off their opponents narrowly losing 2& 1.
In match 2, Anabelle Lucas-Villar (playing in her first senior match) was partnered with Pam Parkman. Despite some tough opposition from La Moye’s junior Lily Buckley and Juanita Adlington they won 4 & 3.
The last pairing, Annette Ramage & Sarah Peggie had a tough match against some seasoned La Moye players but after a brave effort, lost 6&4.

Meanwhile, the Silver B Team began their day with the Singles.
There were wins for Heather Gallagher 2 & 1 and Claire Reid 3 & 2, whilst Jane Lansdell halved her match.

Lunchtime score 3 1/2: 2 1/2 to La Moye.

In the afternoon, the formats were reversed with the A team playing Singles and B team playing their foursomes.

In the Silver A, there were wins for Helen Lagadu 4 & 3, Gloria Pallot-Brown 4 & 3 and Sarah Peggie 3 & 1. The two juniors Anabelle and Lily were paired against each other, and this match went to the 18th hole with Lily holing a 15th putt for birdie to halve their match.

The final result was 4 1/2 to 4 1/2 with La Moye retaining the Bailhache Cup for another year.

In the Silver B Foursomes, it was all to play for with 2 points being awarded per match.
Nan Waters and Heather Gallagher played a tight match which La Moye eventually won 2 & 1.
Julie Frank & Sharon Parsons were next out and showed great perseverance to get a win for the team 3 & 2.
The last, and crucial match was played by Claire Reid & Jane Lansdell and after battling all the way, they finally won on the 18th hole, 2 up.

The final result was 6 ½ to 5 ½ to Royal Jersey who retained the Jane Rogers Trophy.

A massive thanks to all the members of the team and their caddies for representing RJ on what was a long day for everyone and thanks to those supporters who came to watch.
