The Club held its 18-hole Open Medal on Saturday and attracted a field of over 100 including a number that had travelled from the mainland to play.

Scoring was very good considering the tricky north easterly that was blowing. Winning the Pallot Bowl for the best nett score, was Steven Mitchell with a nett 63 off a playing handicap of 11. He was out in a gross 37 (one over par) with a birdie 3 at the 5th hole. His homeward nine was also 37 (three over a par) and included a birdie 3 at the difficult 13th. At this stage Steven was level par gross but dropped 4 shots over the difficult finish. Despite his last few holes, this was an excellent round of golf from the Les Mielles member.

The Goodchild Trophy, awarded to the best scratch score, was won by Island Seniors Team Captain, Mick Le Feuvre, with a one over par 71. He was out in 37 strokes, with birdies at the 5th and 9th holes and returned with an excellent level par 34. His back nine included a birdie at the 11th and his sole dropped shot came at the tough 17th. His round could have been a stroke better off as he left his birdie putt at the last agonisingly short. However, this was an excellent result considering there were a number of Island Team players in the field.

A presentation took place in the evening presided over by Club Captain Philip Bolton who is pictured with the two winners and their trophies.
