On Thursday, June 16th, in perfect weather conditions, the ladies welcomed the Les Mielles Ladies to the Royal Jersey GC.

There were two fixtures to contest – the Pat Drew Trophy in the Silver division, and the Les Mielles G and CC Trophy for the Bronze. The format was singles matchplay off course handicap with handicaps being matched as closely as possible.

The Silver division fought hard against a strong Les Mielles side, and despite victories for Sonia Smith and Carol Allen, lost by 3 points – 2.

The Bronze division were more successful with victories for Elaine Peoples, Francine Rhodes, Sue Kelly and Jane Millar. Jane’s victory was particularly noteworthy as she fought back from 3 down to win 2/1. The 4 – 1 victory meant the Royal Jersey won the Les Mielles trophy outright for the first time in 10 years.

As usual, the effort and sportsmanship shown by both teams was exemplary.

A most sociable summer lunch was then enjoyed by all. Our thanks go to the catering and restaurant staff who did their usual excellent job.
