Royal Jersey has an active junior section of up to 75 boys and girls. We aim to provide a welcoming environment where our junior members become involved so that they develop their games and go onto become lifelong members.
Entry into the section is by recommendation from a qualified golf Professional who will validate that the junior is competent to the level that they are ready to play on the course. Applicants will have their name posted on the notice board and, subject to no objections, the application will be accepted.
The junior section meets each Sunday afternoon throughout the year when juniors play 9 or 18 holes. On joining, juniors are encouraged to gain a handicap within the first few weeks of membership. There are a number of Junior Competitions organised throughout the year on Sundays and during school holidays. The highlight of the calendar is the annual Festival of Golf held during the summer holidays comprising 4 rounds on 4 consecutive days on 4 different courses.
Our more experienced juniors are invited to take part in trips to the UK to compete in junior competitions and County events. For those doing really well there is the opportunity to be selected to play for Hampshire in age group competitions. RJGC enters the Green Jackets which is an inter club knock out competition with the finals being played at a Club in Hampshire.
Junior members are encouraged to take part in lessons with RJ Professionals and an Academy, supported by Pastella Ceramics and AP Construction, has been established which provides regular coaching, practice and playing opportunities.
Our club safeguarding policies, for adults and juniors, can be viewed in the main office. The club welfare officer is Darren Attwood who can be contacted on 01534 854416.
